The lost almost everything when the floodwaters entered the living quarters of their home. Many in the area do not have insurance and will be relying on FEMA for long-term recovery assistance. The neighborhood of Wayne, New Jersey, was under approximately 8-10 feet of water. Many of the homes are built with the living space elevated 6-10 feet with a “basement” on the ground level. This entire river community neighborhood sustained major damage with many of the homes now red-tagged as unsafe.
